Tengos lets you configure both the app's display language and your default meeting language settings. Setting these upfront saves time every time you start a new meeting.
App display language
Change the language of the Tengos interface itself — menus, buttons, and navigation labels.
- Go to Settings > Profile (or Preferences, depending on your app version).
- Find the Display Language setting.
- Select your preferred language from the list. Tengos supports 14 interface languages.
- The change applies immediately — no page reload required.
Dark mode
Toggle between dark and light themes to suit your environment.
- Go to Settings > Profile.
- Toggle Dark Mode on or off.
- This preference is saved per device, so each device can have a different theme.
Default meeting language settings
Set default source and target languages so you don't have to configure them manually each time you start a meeting.
- Go to Settings > Preferences.
- Configure the following:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Default Source Language | The language being spoken — selected automatically when you start a new meeting |
| Default Target Language | The language you want translations delivered in |
| Auto-detect | Tengos detects the spoken language automatically — useful for multilingual environments |
| Translation direction | From → To for one-way translation, or Between for bidirectional conversations |
- Click Save to apply.
Tips
- Use Auto-detect if participants frequently switch between languages in the same session.
- Set the translation direction to Between for interpreter-style two-language conversations.
Notes
- Display language and meeting language are independent settings. Changing one does not affect the other.
- Dark mode is stored locally on each device. If you use Tengos on multiple devices, set the preference separately on each.
