As transcription happens, Tengos translates content into your target language in real time. Translation appears alongside the transcript — so you can follow a conversation in a language you understand, even if speakers are using a different one.
Translation modes
Tengos offers two translation directions:
| Mode | Use Case |
|---|---|
| From → To | One-way translation — for example, Japanese → English. One party speaks and the other reads translations. |
| Between | Bidirectional — translates in both directions simultaneously. Ideal for two-language conversations where both parties speak different languages. |
How to enable live translation
- When starting a new meeting, select your source language (language being spoken).
- Select your target language (language for translation output).
- Choose the translation direction: From → To or Between.
- Click Start. Translation will appear alongside transcription automatically.
View options during a live meeting
Adjust how the transcript and translation are displayed to suit your preference:
| View | Description |
|---|---|
| Single Column | Display the transcript only, or the translation only |
| Split View | Transcript and translation displayed side by side |
| Full Screen | Maximized panel for easier reading in presentations or interpreter setups |
Tips
- Use Split View when both speakers need to see the transcript and translation simultaneously.
- Set your default source and target languages in Settings > Preferences so translation starts automatically every session.
- Use Between mode when acting as a real-time interpreter for two-language conversations.
Notes
- Translation availability depends on the language pair selected and your plan. If translation is not appearing, verify that your plan supports the selected combination.
